We are all guilty, many of us have forgotten how to relax at home. You often hear people saying how tired, stressed and busy they are… we are conditioned to do or achieve so much therefore we often see relaxing as a waste of time.
This new digital world we are living in is certainly not helping, constantly looking at WhatsApp, emails or checking the latest tweet has become a normal habit. In the evening somehow, we feel that Apple TV, Netflix etc. is the only way to chill out. Proper relaxing doesn’t always mean you have to wait for your next weekend away or summer holiday. For the sake of our health, it is essential that we start to make an effort to learn how relax, here are a few tips how…
Yoga
Yoga is a sport that does not require a lot of equipment and is known for its many benefits on the body and mind. You can take classes online or simply practice it at home. Yoga has too many benefits to state them all on this page, (posture, muscle strength etc…) but it will help you to sleep better and feel calmer. Feeling a bit anxious? Sit in the Lotus position and breath slowly…
Mediation and Breathing
Meditation allows us to refocus on ourselves and forget everything that is going on around us. Sometimes it can be difficult to stay focused during mediation sessions, which is why we recommend the meditation cushion so that you can enjoy your session in comfort. You can also use a candle to focus and of course some incense which we will explain in detail below.
Incense sticks and room sprays
If you want to feel relaxed, the aroma in a room is very important, that’s why burning incense or using a room spray is a popular relaxation method. The fragrance is very important, so we recommend; Jasmine, Lavender, Sandalwood, Opium and Californian White Sage. Check out our range of fragrances under Home and Aroma.
Essential Oils
Several essential oils have the virtues of relaxing you. No matter what activity you choose to do to relax, nothing is better than a relaxing atmosphere in the air. Just choose the right blend of essential oils (Lavender, Ylang Ylang, Frankincense) and put it in your diffuser to spread calm. Check out our selection of diffusers and aroma oils for a divine and relaxing scent in your house.
Take a walk in the countryside
Exercising helps get rid of stress by boosting your body's endorphins. What's even better is to move outside to breathe fresh air. Regardless of the season, this is the perfect opportunity to reconnect with nature and be grateful.
Be creative
Practicing a manual or creative pastime can be very relaxing and it can help focus the mind. Do an activity that you enjoy: cooking, gardening, renovating, etc. A creative activity such as crafting can help concentration, and it has even been compared to meditation due to its calming effects on the brain and body. Last summer, painting really helped me reduce my anxiety and focus on my life goals.
A hot drink?
A hot drink will allow your body to relax. Sit back and sip a good organic herbal tea to help calm your body's nervous irritability. If I feel stressed or can’t focus and it’s time to take a break, then I know tea will calm me down. Tea contains antioxidants and green tea goes the extra mile. It contains anti-inflammatory, anti-cancer, and even anti-ageing properties, among others. Make sure you stop for five minutes, take time to think and enjoy your cup of tea. Why not trying our Organic Shoti Maa Herbal Tea Emotional Detox?
A hot bath
A good hot bath allows the whole body to rest, the muscles relax and the head too…. Your bath will move to another level of relaxation when you include our Dead Sea Salt Bath Tea with its therapeutic effects.
Massage
There is nothing better than a massage when you really want to relax. What's even better is when you can have one at home. We have a selection of massage oils which have relaxing properties. If I have time, I like using my oils in the morning and/or before bed. A tip for a good night’s sleep... put a drop of Sleepy Lavender Massage Oil from our Pure Oils & Massage section, on the sole of your feet and massage for a few seconds then rub your palms for 20 seconds and inhale before laying down to sleep.
Read a book..
Reading a book is always good, it allows you to escape and to clear your head. Sit back comfortably to read and enjoy a good herbal tea. Reading before bed regularly can also enhance your sleep.
And finally… don’t forget to sleep!
